The sleepy horsey town of Lucas Texas located in Collin County with a population of only 5,200 people and 11.73 square miles in size, the City of Lucas has excellent schools served by Lovejoy ISD, Allen ISD, McKinney ISD, Plano ISD, Wylie ISD, and Princeton ISD. The density is 435 people per square mile. With the convenience of Lake Lavon, (one of the best kept secrets in the area) offering rich wildlife environment or if you enjoy fishing, you can have your boat launched onto the lake from Highland Park or Brockdale Park within minutes. If you enjoy horses or nature hiking, there is a 18 mile equestrian trail ready for your relaxing ride or hike through the City of Lucas and the natural beauty of North Texas country side over looking Lake Lavon. The town of Lucas is protecting the quality of life with strick restrictions on new development including restrictions on light pollution. You can actually look up at night and see a blanket of stars. Most new homes are Custom Estate Homes built on at least an acre of property, with many on at least an acre and a half.
Retail and restaurant development is nearby, especially along Central Expressway, about seven miles to the west. But within Lucas, commercial businesses are limited. Most new construction is residential.
Lucas is small-town Texas at its best focusing on country living.
The City of Lucas is conveniently located near the growing suburbs of Allen, McKinney and Plano allowing quick access to Central Expressway (Hwy 75) to the west, President George Bush Freeway (SH 190) to the south, SH 121 to the north and Lake Lavon to the east.
